Sales Competency Assessment
Sales competency is something that most sales people must take responsibility for themselves. Even those who join an organisation as a novice or trainee, who are provided with a carefully thought out training schedule to help them develop the right sales skills and habits as well as learn about the products or services they will be selling, must take it upon themselves to acquire the skills and habits
To help organisations and sales people, we have created a business-to-business sales competency model and published an outline of it here. In addition, we have developed self-assessment tools for use by sales people and validation tools suitable for use by a sales coach or manager. Validating a self-assessment helps sales people to discover what they really know and what their true sales habits are. Without validation, it is too easy to overestimate ability or knowledge and assume habits that are seldom practiced.
